Nancy in April 2008Hymns were led by Nancy Silcox. During her hymn session she reported on the Bricket Wood Reunion that took place 18-21 May. About 200 people attended at least one of the many activities, which included a welcome dinner, visit to the Bricket Wood Ambassador College Campus, trip to St. Albans, visit to Parliament led by MP Mike Weatherley the brother of Annette Weatherley Forkun who was chief organiser of the reunion, visit to Hatfield House and a gala dinner dance. The hymns were on photos of the Bricket Wood Campus and in between hymns Nancy showed some photos of the reunion, including Ruth & Wayne Garratt from Australia, who were guests in church today.
Hymn 1. Count Your Blessings
Hymn 2. One Faith, One Love
x-BW Campus-Student Centre from Sunken GardensVisiting the Ambassador College Campus was a bitter/sweet experience. It brought back many happy memories, but was unkempt and dilapidated with the Gymnasium boarded up. This picture may help take the sting out–Like seeds must decay before they grow and produce fruit, so the campus has performed its job of producing seeds that have scattered around the globe to bear much fruit in God’s great harvest.

We then saw a video clip of Dr. Joseph Tkach Speaking Of Life, entitled ‘Seeds’
Mike with George at his presentation

Mike at the pianoGeorge Henderson made a Presentation to Mike Hustwait of a plaque and gift vouchers in honour of his many years of service to the church in the field of music. He has played the piano for hymns and special music for over 50 years!

Hymn 3. Here I Am, Lord
Hymn 4. By Faith

Irene giving the opening prayerIntercessory Prayerwas offered by Irene Wilson and included:
*Thank you, Lord, for our many blessings including the beauty of your creation that we are reminded of in the Chelsea Flower Show. It is so sad that the name of God is not mentioned, being considered not ‘politically correct’. Help us not to be PC but to speak your name and tell your good news with pride and zeal.
*Thank you for the wonderful work you did through the Bricket Wood Campus of Bricket Wood both here and around the world, and for the mighty harvest that has come from it.
*We were appalled by the loss of four young yachtsmen that was in the news and we pray for their families
*We pray for the people of Thailand under martial law, and pray for peace
*Many of our friends are sick and you know their needs—we leave them in your hands: Valerie Philo in a care home, Jack Stokes in his Senior years and his wife Rosemary as she cares for him patiently, Judy Harper, Ruth Edwards and John Halford fighting cancer, Eileen Howard, Harley Elliott and many others. We pray for your mercy and your healing.
*We give you thanksgiving for Mike Hustwait and his faithful Service. Bless him with health and strength for the future
*In a sin-sick world, as we remember Christ’s ascension, help us to do our part in his work.

Hymn 5. Be Thou My vision

David gives the sermonDavid Silcox mentioned that Anthony Dady moves this week from being Deputy Mayor to being Mayor of Corby. May God bless his service and give him opportunities to spread the gospel both by word and action. He then gave the Sermon on the topic of how God speaks to us, using Hebrews 1:1-2. God spoke in past times through his messengers, the prophets. He connected to his people and wanted them to listen and understand. We are blessed to commune with God and to know, love and obey him. Today he speaks to us mainly through his through his Son, the Word, through the written Word, the Bible. God is not silent—we have to look in the right place and listen to his Words. Acts 2:;17 tells us we are in the last days. Hebrews 2:1 says we must give earnest heed to the things we hear from God.

The final Hymn was Great Is Thy Faithfulness
after which the Closing Prayer was led by Wayne Garratt
