2014-07-05 David Stirk in WatfordThe Sermon was given by David Stirk on the subject of Communion:  The one cup, one loaf, one body speak of Unity.  The ‘Book’ reveals God to us.  James 2:14-17 tells us that our works demonstrate your faith.  Faith will save you, but if you say you have faith but don’t show this by your works, then your faith is dead.  You can’t show your faith by holding it up for anyone to see, but you demonstrate your faith by your life. Love without works is also dead, and you show your love by your works.  By this will all men know that you are disciples, if you have love toward one another.  Romans 11:32 says God committed all to disobedience.  During the war a men threw himself on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers, but if he had been captured, would he have done the same to save his captors?  Jesus did!  Romans 5:6-10  God demonstrates in ways that cannot be denied, that he is love, he is grace, he is God. He chooses us rather than the other way around.  John 15:16-19.  He chose the 12 Apostles, even Judas was hand-picked.  John 13:18, and all was planned before creation!  Ephesians 1:4 It is in the communion service that we see portrayed for us the love and mercy of God.  God demonstrates his love with his works!

The final Hymn was I Sing The Mighty Power Of God after which the Closing Prayer was led by Mike Barlow

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.
