Hymn 3 – As the Deer

Bill Wilson introduces Intercessory PrayerIntercessory Prayer was led by Bill Wilson and included:
*What a week this has been. Many nations rejoiced together at a very successful Commonwealth Games in Scotland. Then we remembered the start of the Great War 100 years ago. It was supposed to be the war to end all wars. What has humanity learned? We here today are very privileged people and we need to pray. Our Father we need you and so do millions around the world. Mankind has chosen the wrong way these past hundred years. We are supposed to love one another. Wars continue around the world and so many innocent people suffer. We pray for them and please help the world leaders to bring peace. Thank you that aid is now reaching the Christians and other groups who fled to the mountains in Iraq. Please also bring calm between Israel and Gaza. We all pray to the same God.
*Please stop the Ebola virus spreading across Africa. We pray that it will soon be under control.
*We ask your healing for Richard Ridgell and the Schnippert family, all battling with cancer.
*Please help the Street Angels out on Thursday night. Please don’t let euphoria turn into trouble.
*We thank you that John Halford went home. We now ask you to help both Bob Halford and George Henderson as they prepare for surgery.
*Thankyou for the success of S.E.P. They all look forward to next years. Please protect everyone as they travel home.
*We pray for prisoners who have faith. Help those if an injustice has been done.
*In our congregation here, Graham has asked for prayers for the staff at his Residential Home. If only everyone in the world would look to Jesus. The only way to peace. We trust in you and thankyou for your sacrifice so that we can be with you in the future. You have a plan of salvation for all people.

Hymn 4 – O let the Son of God Enfold You
2010-08-21 Watford Congregation-collageThe Message was given by Olivier Carion.
We live in a world of confusion. There is a lot of trouble in the Middle East. Olivier has been to see the film ” Noah”. Jesus said in Matthew 24:37,”But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be”. We must go back to Genesis to understand. In Genesis 3:14-19, we read the prophecy God gave to the serpent and to Adam and Eve. Since then the Devil has tried to thwart mankind, and the Earth became corrupt. We can see the message of Jesus through the story of the flood. We see the Bible through a fuzzy window. We do not have every detail about everything. There were giants on the earth then, before and after the flood. Genesis 6 Verse 4. God saw the wickedness of men and was sorry he had made them. God decided to destroy his creation. Verses 5-7. The name Noah means rest, and only he found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Verse 8. The earth was filled with violence then and will be when Christ returns. Verses 9-13. God instructs Noah to build an ark, which is a symbol of Jesus. Sin can be external or internal. The ark was covered inside and outside with pitch. God always prepares his people for a crisis. The pitch protected them in the ark, as the blood of Jesus protects us. The ark took the beating, as Jesus did for us. They were safe inside, and so are we in his love. There was only one window high up, because God didn’t want them to see the destruction, but to look only to Him. There were 3 decks but only one door. Jesus is the door. The gospel is about a God of mercy and forgiveness, grace and love. The story of Peter shows this. Some of the disciples were martyrs. We should always be ready to answer the big questions of life.  It does not matter if we die now or see Christ return. God has chosen us, we serve and follow him safe in his love.

The Final Hymn was When I survey the Wondrous Cross after which the Closing Prayer was given by Phillip Halford.
