2015-02-14 Phillip Halford leads Intercessory PrayerIntercessory Prayer was offered by Phillip Halford:
*What a blessing it is to know you and know what it is that you have in store for us and that you will do what you say you will do.
*We have human limitations and see things from a human perspective, but you know all and do things according to your will
*How dare ISIS use your Holy Name for their evil deeds, claiming to do your will—please put an end to this human misery and suffering in your mercy, wisdom and in your timing
*Bereavements at this time make us sad and we ask that you be with the families of Edna Lavers, Mrs. Rice, Elizabeth Arnold, Mr. Clifford, and Judy Harper, as they mourn.  Comfort and encourage them with the hope you give us in Christ We ask that you be with and heal Peter Buckley who is not well
*A couple has asked for prayers at our Prayer Table outside and we lift them up to you, requesting healing and comfort
*Flooding in Mozambique is causing misery and we ask for your intervention there
*We pray for Christ’s return and that your will be done

Hymn 4.  Holy Spirit, We Welcome You
Hymn 5.  Only By Grace

2015-02-14 Barry Robinson preachingThe Message was given by Barry Robinson. Jesus was a master storyteller and in these stories we can learn many valuable lessons.  In Luke 18:9-14 we find the story of the Pharisee and publican praying at the temple.  It is an outrageous story that reverses the accepted understanding of the time—the righteous condemned and the sinner accepted! The story was put deliberately at this point in context answering the question of how can a person be right with God?  Psalm 143:2 says NOONE is righteous and elsewhere we find that our righteousness is as filthy rags to God.  Only God is righteous and he wants us to become perfect and righteous, which we can only do through faith in Jesus, and Christ in us.  Isaiah 53:11 says Jesus came to justify many and bear their iniquities and we read in several places that righteousness is imputed to those who believe. The Pharisees thought that keeping the law made them righteous but Jesus was showing that God knows the heart and it is the attitude that counts.  Not by human morality, goodness, etc. that a person enters the kingdom of God, but by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus 2 Corinthians 5:19.

The final Hymn was To God Be The Glory after which the Closing Prayer was led by Mike Hustwait

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.
2015-02-14 Children's ChurchYoung People’s Lessons was held during the Sermon time.  The children chose a famous child from the Bible story. They then practised reading some scriptures about that child in preparation for the children’s service on the 28th of February. The children then looked at some maps of Uganda and photographs of some Ugandan Church members and school children. They also ate some chocolate and Pringles from Dubai!  The lesson was taught by Geoff & Jean sole.
