Hymn 4 – Immortal Invisible, God Only Wise

2015-02-28 Geoff Sole introduces the Children's ReadingsThe Message was given by Geoff Sole who also gave an update on our congregations in Uganda, where he visited recently.
Our church has 7 congregations in Uganda. Recently Geoff went to visit the one in Tororo for 6 days. About 7 years ago our U.K. and Irish churches financed the building of a church hall, together with a school/nursery for our members and the local community. They have a dedicated teaching staff, and a cooked meal is provided for the children each day.
Geoff showed us slides he had taken. The cook works in a very small hut with pans on piles of stones. Water has to be collected from half a mile away. They do have 2 toilets in a small separate building. One for the ladies and one for gents, but inside there is just a small hole in the concrete floor. The school has one table and six chairs to be shared by the current 113 children and six staff. They are in desperate need of scholastic and children’s ministry  resources, Nursery and kitchen equipment. They also need Bibles and hymnals. We saw a photo of about ten happy looking children playing on a very worn-out see-saw! One little girl was dressed in just a rag. Geoff said that the children need a lot of love. There was a photo of a little boy with his arms around Geoff’s legs needing to be hugged.
When Geoff arrived back at the Airport to leave Uganda, he saw a sign there quoting Matthew 22:39. You shall love your neighbour as yourself. How can we continue to do this?
By first growing in love to God and to each other. Luke 3:10-14.
Also growing in helping prepare the way to Jesus and eternal life. Isaiah 40:3. John 3:31-36.
Please pray for our brethren in Uganda. If you wish to make a donation to help them, please send it to our office in Market Harborough and mark it “Africa”.

The Final Hymn was A New Commandment, after which the Closing Prayer was given by Chris Esom.

Fellowship continued over Refreshments in the Church Hall.

Children’s Church took place during the Message time.
