nancysilcoxThe Service was held at St. Johns in Radlett at 2pm.

The Opening Prayer was given by Peter Beardsmore

Hymns were led by Nancy Silcox:
Hymn 1.  Be Still For The Presence Of The Lord
Hymn 2.  One Faith, One Love

Announcements were given by David Silcox and included:
*Don’t forget there are two cards to sign—one for Andrew  Silcox upon his retirement and the other for Dr. Graham Mitchell
*Anthony Dady put on a concert as his last Mayoral Event as Mayor of Corby.  During his year as Mayor, Anthony has endeavoured to make a difference to the communities of Corby and let his Christianity shine through.  The concert included a short message from the Mayor’s Chaplain and a gospel choir who led the audience in several hymns. Thursday the new mayor will be appointed.

David Silcox introduced the Offering by reading a prose poem about Jesus—one life who changed the world.  He urged us to never underestimate what we can achieve.  During the Offering we sang the next Hymn:

Hymn 3.  Love Divine, All Love’s Excelling

Mike Barlow asked a Blessing over the offering, saying, ‘May our offering be used to make your word known around the world.  Bless this offering and guide it’s use.’

2015-05-24 Phillip Halford with Intercessory PrayerIntercessory Prayer was led by Phillip Halford and included:
*One of the ways we praise our God is through prayer.  What a privilege it is to know you, God and we thank you for the knowledge we have of your love.
*ISIS are butchering Christians.  It is hard to understand sometimes how you don’t get angry and destroy these perpetrators of evil.  We pray for your intervention and we have the faith and trust in you to deal with all in your way in your time.
*Some of our congregation need your help.  We pray for Graham and ask for his complete healing and restoration.
*Janie Gadston is still suffering health problems.  We pray also for Jack Stokes, Valerie Philo, Peter Buckley, George Campbell, Ruth Edwards and Phyllis.  You know each of these individually as well as those suffering that we are not aware of and we put them into your hands.  Give us the trust that your will is being done.

Hymn 4.  Shine, Jesus, Shine

We saw a video clip with Dr. Joseph Tkach ‘Speaking of Life.’  This one was entitled Access To God

Hymn 5.  The Church’s One Foundation

2015-05-24 David Silcox gives the SermonThe Sermon was given by David Silcox.  He began by turning to John 17:1 where Jesus said, “The hour has come”  In Acts 1:9 the Disciples watched Jesus ascent and then in Acts 2 they saw, heard and experienced the coming of the other comforter Jesus has told the Disciples would come after he ascended-John 14:16.  The first comforter or advocate was Jesus himself as we see in 1 John 2:1, but the Holy Spirit was to abide with you forever after Jesus ascended. David gave us five statements that help to understand the role of the Holy Spirit:
1.  The Holy Spirit is our friend and helper as spoken of in John 14:16 also as our comforter or advocate.  In verse 17 we read that the world cannot receive until the hear and know.
2.  The Holy Spirit brings things to our minds as we see in John 14:25 & 26
3.  The Holy Spirit bears witness of Jesus as John 15:26-27 says, also that the Spirit of Truth will testify and therefore YOU will bear witness as well.
4.  The Holy spirit convicts the world of sin in John 16:7-11 and of righteousness and of judgment
5.  The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and glorify Jesus.
In Acts 2:1 the hour had come for the Holy Spirit to be made manifest and available to ALL in the last days (verses 16-21).  This changed the world dramatically.

The Final Hymn was There Is A Redeemer after which the Closing Prayer was given by George Henderson.

Fellowship continued in the Church Hall over Afternoon Tea.
