Intercessory Prayer was offered by Irene Wilson, who began by saying that our wonderful creator is amazing, from the smallest intricate flower in the Chelsea Flower Show to the skill of the surgeon attending Graham Mitchell.  He takes ‘muck’ and uses it for his majesty:
*Thank you, Father, so much for your love and for the power you give us by your Spirit in us.
*We bring our beloved brother, Graham, before you, our healer,–you know his needs and we ask you to be with him, put your angels around him, protect him from infection and guide the nursing staff and surgeons.  Be with his family, strengthen and comfort them with the quiet assurance of your love and presence.
*Be with Esther Marsden and heal her.  Be with those treating her and also with her family.
*We pause to remember those not able to attend with us—Jack Stokes, Valerie Philo and George Campbell
*Be with those who are grieving.  You know the pain of loss and so we give these bereaved families into your loving care and comfort
*Thank you for the faith of Linda Dick and we pray that you would give her and her family peace and comfort, give her relief from pain and heal her according to your loving will
*In the news we see some under siege today and ask that there will be a way out for them to live in peace

Hymn 4.  The Power Of Your Love
Hymn 5.  10,000 Reasons

2015-05-23 David PreachingThe Sermon was given by David Silcox who began with a short report on his recent trip to Ireland where he spoke in Dublin two weeks ago and in Ballymoney last week, after which he, his wife and Harry & Tina Sullivan went with Will & Jean Linton to visit Hugh Carton, an elder who is now in a Care Home and who turns 95 at the end of May.  David also spoke at the Lisburn Congregation.
The Sermon was about the role and nature of Jesus Christ in our lives through the seven ‘I Am’s of Jesus that sum up the essential work of Jesus.  If we say ‘I am…’ we generally give facts like ‘I am a teacher’ or ‘I am 30 years old’, but if we say ‘He is…’ we often use descriptive phrases like ‘He is a great person with a heart for helping.’  Jesus expressed his whole being in his sayings, like ‘I am the way, the truth and the life’ John 14:6 and verse 58, ‘before Abraham was, I am!’   The later phrase reflected his divinity by referring back to Exodus when Moses told the people that God’s name was ‘I AM’.

The final Hymn was The Lord’s My Shepherd (Crimond) after which the Closing Prayer was led by Bill Wilson

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.
