Hymn 4 – Crown Him With Many Crowns

2015-01-03 Mike Barlow preachingThe Message was given by Mike Barlow
Jesus made many statements that people just did not understand. When Jesus was 12 years old, he went missing in Jerusalem for 3 days. His worried parents went back to find him. Jesus stated that he was about his Father’s business. He knew that God was his spiritual father and also that he had been given a mission. Luke 2:41-49. His parents though did not understand.
Verse 50. 18 years later Jesus was baptised. Luke 3:21-22. Jesus later returned to Galilee and taught in the Synagogues. He went to one in Nazareth and was handed the book to read. He read Isaiah 61:1-2. This was his mission statement. All who witnessed this marveled at his words. Luke 4:14-22. He had come to preach the gospel, help the poor, the blind, brokenhearted, captives and those oppressed. In the next three years Jesus did all these things. We can read this in the four Gospels.
God wants us to follow the example of Christ and be like-minded. Always trying to put others before ourselves. Philippians 2:1-8. We are fellow workers. Verses 25-30. We all have our part to play and can ask God in prayer what work he wants us to do. God loves us and created us for good works. Ephesians 2:8-10. It is a gift of his grace. Jesus completed his work at age 33. When we complete our work, we will receive the award of eternal life and serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Colossians 3:23.

The Final Hymn was To God be the Glory after which the Closing Prayer was given by Phillip Halford.
