2015-03-14 Irene Wilson leads Intercessory Prayer-trimmedThe Message was given by Irene Wilson about OLD AGE!
Society demands us to be forever youthful but we are growing old for the the first breath.
Ps 92V12,13 The two trees – senior citizen are seen as part of society – growing in grace and knowledge
Palm trees-2600 species, from the middle east and grow in the rain forest to the desert
Rom 8v16 We are Gods’ children.
Old age and loneliness – ⅓ over 75 are lonely – we can chat to God all the time  Ps25v16 David was lonely – David turns to God
Isa 41V10 I am with you – using His right hand
Palm trees are used as shelter and provide fruit
Gal 5v22 Fruit of the Spirit – ask the Holy Spirit and don’t hide behind your age Jer 33v3 Call on the Holy Spirit
Paul had horrendous trials, 2 Cor11v24  James1v2 – trials grows patience
Phil4v13 Do all things thru Christ  Dementia – understanding https://www.churchofengland.org/media/45684/dementia.pdf In an article from the Church of England’s Mission and Public Affairs Council, Dr Philip Giddings of Mission and Public Affairs Council writes; (He acknowledges that we are the temple of God.) He then goes on to say, ‘Dementia colours the very walls of that temple. The framework of a person’s inner life breaks down and fractures. The core personality disperses and eventually disappears leaving a silent emptiness. Yet what remains is a temple (in Christian theology) where the spirit of God dwells. Whatever stage the dementia has reached, the person in all their human frailty continues to seek and become divine. The person is a temple wherein we experience the Spirit and very presence of God.
Just as God is with us now, so He awaits us in His transcendence where through His grace we are able to complete the process of becoming divine and sharing in the glory of God. Here is real transformation as we are changed ‘from glory to glory’ – as it says in one Christian hymn. All that assailed us in our human experience is left behind. Here there is no place for mental illness, for dementia, for learning disabilities, and a whole range of other conditions. Here there is wholeness, mystery, glory, wrapped for eternity in the divine embrace of the God of love’.
Mortality – Death – is feared by the whole world but christians know different 1Thes4v13 all christians have Hope and we should trust Him
Palm trees where used in the old Testament in the Temple 1Cor3v16 You are God’s Temple Lev19v32 Grey head Ecc6v6 to be content 1Cor15v10 I am what I am – by God’s Grace 1Cor2v9 God’s future for us onwards and upwards
