Hymn 3.  Blest and Happy Is The Man

Phillip HalfordIntercessory Prayer was offered by Phillip Halford and included:
*Violence against man is worse and many do it in God’s name.  Creator, who made the vast universe, you understand us and it must make you very sad and angry when you see the evil and violence on earth.  You could step in and stop it, but you didn’t even when your own son was murdered, because you have a plan and a purpose
*We come as a congregation to ask your help with people in our congregation that we are concerned about—George Campbell and Peter Buckley.  Jack & Rosemary, and many others suffering will illness and the difficulties of old age.
*Graham Mitchell, whom we know that you have not forgotten, we pray that you will take away the pain and suffering.  The most effective tool we have is prayer and we ask you to hear and heal
*We pray also for Erica, and for Isabel Delap.  And as always pray that you will be done
*The only true hope is the return of Jesus Christ and we look forward to that time.

Hymn 4.  Be Thou My vision
Hymn 5.  By This Shall All Men Know

David Silcox gives the SermonThe Message was given by David Silcox who asked us, “Why is God an Awesome God?”
1-This week we have gazed with wonderment at pictures of Pluto and deep space from the camera launched 10 years ago and imed accurately!  God is Awesome because he is the Creator of Everything—out of nothing he created everything.  Psalm 33:6-9 says by the word of the Lord the heavens were made.
2-God is Sustainer.  Everything that God made works as he sustains it.  Hebrews 1:3 says upholding all things by the word of his power
3-God knows the beginning from the end.  He is Awesome because he Knows Everything!  Isaiah 48:12-13 says he is first and last, that he laid the foundation of the earth and his right hand spanned the heavens.  He says in Isaiah 46:9 “I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done!”
4-God is Awesome because he Saves Everything.  He provided salvation and reconciles mankind.  John 1:12 says he saves all who believe, John 10:10 say he came that we might have life, Mark 16:15-16 tells us that he that believes shall be saved.  In Romans 8:37 we read that we are more than conquerors and nothing can separate us from our Awesome God!

The final Hymn was Blest Be The Tie That Binds after which the Closing Prayer was led by Irene Wilson

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.
Young Peoples ChurchYoung People’s Church took place during the Sermon time.
