*The celebration of the 50th anniversary of our Leeds church on 15th August, is now fully booked.
*It is hoped that Graham Mitchell will soon be transfered to Stoke Manderville Hospital. It has been suggested that a rota of visitors could be organised to take the strain off his wife and family. If anyone would be interested in this then please contact George.  Please continue to pray for Graham.
*Please pray for better weather for the second week of S.E.P. Some activities have had to be cancelled, but the campers are really enjoying themselves. Please pray for Richard Fowler and Helen Millman.  Richard is a Dorm Leader but has broken his ankle playing football. Helen was informed that her home had been broken into and had to leave camp. Please also pray that the young people will come to know Jesus Christ and the gospel message.
*Simon and Paula Williams of our Cambridge congregation, are very happy to announce the birth of their second daughter. Juliet was born on 29th July and weighed 5lbs 5ozs.
*Please pray for Jack and Rosemary Stokes. This week Jack had a growth removed from his ear. Although the operation went well, Jack is now in a lot of pain. This is a strain on Rosemary.
*We are saddened to report the death in the U.S.A. of Maurice Mallory.
Please pray for his wife Diane.

*Thankyou for this age of grace. We have no need to worry, because we can talk to you and know that you hear us.
*Please help our Government to find a solution to end the crisis in Kent and Calais.
*Please bless our outreach at S.E.P. They do need good weather. Protect and help everyone there, and let the young people learn all about you. Richard is a member of this congregation and we know that he will be determined to continue. Please help his leg to heal quickly. Please also help Helen to return to camp if possible.
*We ask your healing of Jack and that he will be free of pain. Please support Rosemary through this difficult time.
*Please heal and restore Graham Mitchell. Also we pray for help for Kathy Rankin who has breast cancer.
*Please bring comfort to the relatives of Maurice Mallory in their grief.
*We come here through faith to be instructed from your Bible. Thankyou for all the blessings you give us and all that you do for us.

Hymn 5 – In Christ Alone

John Stettaford preachingThe Message was given by John Stettaford on the subject of Back to Basics. John has been a member of this church since 1962. Many of us here are also long time members. We have heard many messages and taken in a lot of information. Maybe it is time that we looked at the “basics” again. The people listening to the apostle Peter asked him “What shall we do?” Peter told them to repent and be baptized and they would receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:37-38. That is what we did. God did call all of us. Verse 39. Over all these years we should have changed and continue to change. We should be new men and women. Does the Holy Spirit make a difference in our lives? We can become comfortable in our Christianity and lose our first love. Revelation 2:4. We should be willing to change and that should become obvious, but so does the lack of change. Remember back how things once were, and then see the change. God wants us to change. Matthew 4:17. We repented of what we did in the past, but it is about what we are now. We promised to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. We become a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Our God is a God of relationship. We are his workmanship and we must allow him to mould us for his purpose. Ephesians 2:10. We can pray for God to show his will for us. Colossians 4:2. God is love. Our faith is through God’s love and we are to become like him. Jesus is our role model. John 17:24. We are to obey Jesus our master and his command. John 13:34. This is the divine love that we must strive for. The basic of basics. 1 John 3:18. The commandment in verse 23, to love one another, should be our priority and then we will bear much fruit for our Lord.

The Final Hymn was Stand up Stand up for Jesus, after which the Closing Prayer was given by Phillip Halford.

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the Church Hall
