Hymn 4.  How Great Thou Art

IMG_6613The Message was given by David Silcox, who began by commenting on the SEP Slides and saying that Gordon Wilson is stepping down as Camp Director and Jackie Mill will the the new Camp Director, assisted by her husband, Pete.. This year at SEP the rain & mud was a sore trial.  We ask why adversity?  Mark Harrison suffered 7 years with cancer.  James 1:2&3 says count it all joy when you fall into trials, that the testing of faith works patience.  So we see that something good will come from the bad. 1-Reality of trials—we don’t plan for disasters and you never know when they are going to happen but we know that they will 2-There is a reason-adversity has a purpose and good result  1 Peter 4:12 says don’t think it strange because verse 13 it lets us partake or participate in Christ’s suffering.  The testing of faith produces patience and yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness 3-Respond to trials—ask God for wisdom to respond with faith and joy—not as in ‘oh, goodie’ a trial’, but with teh peace and inner joy of faith and vision.  James 1:5 says that if you lack wisdom to ask of God in faith. We can take comfort in 1 Corinthians 10:13 which tells us we will not be tempted above what we are able to bear.

The final Hymn was I Believe after which the Closing Prayer was led by Geoff Sole

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.
