2015-03-14 Barry Robinson giving the Sermon

The Sermon was given by Barry Robinson, who began by asking 2 questions.
How can the U.K. be won for Christ?
How can we be sure that we are a Christian.?
It is vital that we have love for fellow believers because God is love. Read 1 John 4:7-21. We must acknowledge that God is love because he sent us his son. He lives in us through the Holy Spirit. We don’t need to fear. We are a church family and should have love for one another. Verse 11. There is a veneer of friendships in some churches. Some live a life of pretense with others. God dealt with our sin through Christ because of his sacrificial love.
Jesus is the pattern we should follow and always put others before ourselves. 1 John 3:18. Once we understand and feel secure in God’s love, we can show that love to others. Our worst fear might be Judgement Day. Humans fear rejection if people find out what we are really like. God knows all about us because he loves us and has accepted
The key words for loving human relationships are, service to others. Saying you are sorry. Appreciate what others do and say thankyou. Listen to others and respect their views. To love others is a commandment. 1 John 4:20-21. We should bear with each other in love. Ephesians 4:1-3. We should be humble and make every effort for unity. We are all in this together in the wider body of Christ. Jesus himself told us that if we show love to others, then we are his disciples and Christians. John 13:34-35.

The Final Hymn was Morning has Broken, after which the Closing Prayer was given by Geoff Sole.

Fellowship continued in the Church Hall over Refreshments.

There was no Young People’s Church today.
