Hymn 4. By Faith

Mr. Robin Jones preaching in WatfordThe Message was given by Robin Jones on Faith. Psalm 19 says the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork. This can be an inspiration to our faith. Hebrews 11:3 says that through faith we understand that the worlds were formed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear! Science tries to explain the unexplainable and to explain the physical without reference to God. How do we increase our faith? The Apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith in Luke 17:5 and Jesus responded with illustrations
1-Concentrate on serving, verses 7-10. Rather than ‘How can we get more faith and what can God do for us’ think ‘How can I serve.’
2-Thankfully glorify and praise God. Luke 17:12-19 tells the story of the lepers and when the one leper returned to thank and glorify God Jesus told him ‘Your faith has made you whole’—faith is connected to being thankful and giving glory
3-Be humble. Matthew 15:21-28 gives an unusual, puzzling story which would not be PC today, but Jesus was finding out about the woman’s heart and humility. Jesus then encourages her saying ‘Great is your faith’. Faith and humility go together
4-The importance of prayer. Luke 18:1-9 encourages us not to give up praying, that God will speedily answer. Verse 8 shows that prayer and faith are tied.
Faith is a result of service, gratitude and worship, humility and prayer. And as it says in Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing the word of God.

The final Hymn was I Believe after which the Closing Prayer was led by Irene Wilson.

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall
