*We thank you for the many blessings from which we can give an offering in appreciation of your love and in expression of your love in us for others. We ask a blessing on this offering that it will be used to your glory and according to your will.
*We see the violence against and persecution of Christians around the world and ask your protection and help for them
*The coming election in the US seems very much removed from your servant model, we pray you will help them to refrain from the verbal attacks and name-calling that set such a bad example to the citizens of all countries.
*We ask again for your mercy on Eileen for healing of the pain and illness she is experiencing
*We remember too, Graham Mitchell and Len Mayling. comfort and heal them in your mercy
*Thank you that we can have direct access to you through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ

david-gives-the-sermon-on-atonement-2016The Sermon was given by David Silcox. Even the Apostle Paul struggled with sin and said in Romans 7:21-25 that with our minds we want to serve God but our flesh is weak and sins—who can save us? Thankfully God, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. With Christ in us we can overcome. Chapter 8 and verse one goes on to say there is therefore no condemnation because we walk after the Spirit in Christ which frees us from sin. Verse 3, the law couldn’t justify but Jesus did. In the Old Testament the people were only pure and holy once a year through a complicated ritual of sacrifices that only ‘covered’ their sins and did not remove them. Their sins were confessed over the ‘scapegoat’ picturing the sinless Jesus Christ taking the sins of the world and removing them. They are forgiven, gone and we are righteous through Christ in us. These rituals found in Leviticus 16 were fulfilled in Christ and we no longer made animal sacrifices—Jesus was sacrificed and made atonement once for all and acts as our High Priest. Hebrews 9:11-14

The final Hymn was The Lion Of Judah after which the Closing Prayer was led by Phillip Halford
