Hymn 4 – To God be the Glory
Hymn 5 – There is a Redeemer
The Message was given by Irene Wilson. Why do so many people today feel they don’t need to go to church? They might call on him when they have a need. Is everyone just so busy all the time?
The church, (Ecclesia), is 3 things:
1, The Body of Christ,
2, The Body of Believers and
3, the Universal group of people who trusted in God through the ages. We are all invited into the church by God. 1 Corinthians 1:9. Romans 12:5.
We all belong to this Body and each other. Old, young, teenagers, children and babies. Why do we attend our church? Habit, to see friends, to be entertained or frightened? Do we fear we might lose our salvation? Hebrews 10:25-31. Most congregations are much smaller now. We need to make our church a place where members who return will feel at home. Can we look for ways to serve our church and each other? In John 13:34-35, Jesus gave us a new command, to love each other. How can we love unless we get to know each other? Do we only just talk to our friends? Church growth is not by number but by love. Ephesians 4:16. The Holy Spirit will help us. 1 Corinthians 5:4. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and are his Executive Body on earth.
The Final Hymn was Great is the Lord after which the Closing prayer was given by Joy Barlow.
Fellowship continued over Refreshments in the Church Hall after the Service.
