Hymn 4. My Jesus, My Saviour
Hymn 5. Lord, I Come To You

The Sermon was given by Barry Robinson. Colossians 1:27 contains 7 powerful, life-changing words that will revolutionalize and transform our lives: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” If we look at each word individually we can bring out the meaning significantly.
Christ-is the image of the invisible God, the fulness of the diety in bodily form. Creator of all things and sustainer of all and saviour of the world. This creator, saviour of the world, head of the church is IN YOU! What a stupendous concept!
In-Verses 26_27 reveal Chris in us our hope of glory as the great myster understood by Christians. Jesus came as Emmanuel—God with us, but through the Holy Spirit he is now in us. He is our life. The whole history of the Old Testament shows us that only by grace and Christ in us can we have hope. Authentic spiritual transformation happens from the inside out.
You-the exchange of our inherited sinful nature to his righteous nature through Chris in us. We are crucified with Christ-Galatians 2:20, partake of his sufferings-Colossians 1:24, and will be raised through his spirit in us
Hope-Colossians 3:4 says Christ who is your life. Christ in us is our hope of glory.
Barry concluded with a prayer that christ would complete his work in each o us—our hope of glory.

The final Hymn was Father In Heaven How We Love You (Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord) after which the Closing Prayer was given by Sue Ann Henderson.

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.

The Young People’s Church was led by Richard Fowler and continued with part 2 looking at Values. This time they discussed whether human and animal value are the same; what does it mean to rule over God’s creation? and the ethics of animal testing. Next month will be part 3 with the conclusion looking at why God instituted animal sacrifice and examining the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ as our Passover.
