Hymn 5 – Hallelujah, Praise God
The Sermon was given by Mike Barlow. We read in John 15:1 that Jesus is the True Vine and God is the vine-dresser. That means any other vine is false. The fruit of Satan’s vine causes trouble. All that Jesus says is good for everyone. In the past many Christian and other religions have caused terrible hurt to people and many wars. This is not from God. One day all nations will go up to the Mountain of the Lord to learn God’s ways and walk in his paths. Isaiah 2:1-4. We connect to the vine though Christ. As God is the vine-dresser, he can prune the vine to produce the best fruit. We are all individual and the wine grower selects what the grapes will become. John 15:2. He removes those things that can damage us. We are clean because of the word of God. Verse 3. We must remain attached to the vine to be part of it and abide in Christ. Verse 4. We can’t bear much fruit without him. Verse 5. The Holy Spirit has been given as our helper. 1 John 3:24. We are to grow in the characteristics of God. Found in Galations 5:22-23. The fruits of the spirit. Some people will grow slowly and some quickly, it is all up to God. We should show mercy and be peace-makers. James 3:13-18. We must focus on Jesus and his example. Above all we must obey his commandment to love one another. 1 John 3:23.
The Final Hymn was O Thou the Shepherd of Israel Art after which the Closing prayer was given by Geoff Sole.
We then all enjoyed a delicious Buffet Lunch prepared by Joy Barlow and her team.
