*Erika Tuxworth, who leads the Woodside church in Watford, has found she now has cancer for the second time. Please pray for her healing.
*The Watford Street Angels have received a thank you from a girl they helped 6 years ago. She had seen God’s love in action. Street Angels are urgently needing more volunteers.
Intercessory Prayer was led by Sueann Henderson and included:
*Thanks for this special day, the coming of the comforter, Father, son and Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit inspires people to know that you are our saviour. We need to listen and hear. We can do nothing of ourselves. You live in us and we must reach out into this world to help others.
*We can’t understand why some people want to harm others. Please be with and comfort the injured and bereaved in the London attack. The world is in a dreadful state, please send your Son quickly.
*Please touch the hearts and minds of our world leaders. They need to have a true sense of right and wrong. We need to return to your standards.
*We ask you to heal Erika so that she can continue to serve her community.  There are also pastors in the U.S.A. needing your healing power.
*Please call more people to become street angels and let your love be seen there.
*Our nation has gone through so much but you are in charge and we can come to you with everything.
During the next hymn an Offering was taken up.
Hymn 3 – I am the Vine
Sue Ann thanked God for the offering and asked a blessing on it.
Hymn 4 – Spirit of the Living God
The Message was given by Gavin Henderson. Gavin has recently being thinking about the verse in Hosea 6:6. God’s desire is for mercy not sacrifce. Some people seem to get this the wrong way round.
Matthew was one of the disciples of Jesus. We can read about his calling in Matthew 9:9-13. Matthew had invited Jesus and other people to a meal at his house. The Pharisees did not like that. Jesus himself told them that he desired mercy and not sacrifice. Verse 13. The Pharisees strictly kept the law and saw no need for mercy only sacrifice.
We all need forgiveness and mercy. It is nothing we have done because we are saved by the mercy of God. The birth of the church began with the pouring out of the Holy Spirit. We saw what God had done through Christ. Rebirth and renewal. Titus 3:4-5. The Holy Spirit transforms repentance by our turning to God and accepting his mercy. God will make right our wrongs. This is the hope we have in this sinful world. Jesus showed compassion and love throughout his ministry. We should not be isolated Christians but can spend some time alone as Jesus did. We do need to interact with others. The cross became the sacrifice to demonstrate God’s love and mercy to people. We should also show that mercy to others.
The Final Hymn was Give me Joy in my Heart, after which the Closing Prayer was given by Richard Fowler.
We then all enjoyed a Cream Tea together.
