Hymn 5. Standing On The Promises

The Sermon was given by David Silcox who began by asking how we approach coming to church and our Christian walk. We may look at people and how they dress, behave and speak and judge by our own standards, not God’s. Customs come and go but what remains forever is the unity of a shared purpose and goal—to share the Gospel. Whether this is what we say and wear in church or in our community, we need to stand for God and represent him to those we meet. Philippians 1:27-30 says let your conduct be as it becometh the gospel of Christ. We represent Christ and need to follow his example even if we suffer for his sake. Philippians 2:1 says there is consolation and comfort in the fellowship of the Spirit and verse 2 continues, in unity of Spirit and love.

The final Hymn was Onward Christian Soldiers after which the Closing Prayer was led by George Henderson

Young People’s Church was held during the Sermon time.

After the Service we hosted Afternoon Tea for Churches Together in Watford and Garston. A number of people joined us from different denominations and the tea was enjoyed immensely.
