Around 280 people attended the 2017 Autumn Harvest Festival in Paignton 5-12 October. Meetings and activities were held in the Oceans Hall at Beverley Bay Holiday Park in Goodrington near Paignton, Devon, in Southern England. There was a warm atmosphere of love and fellowship, reflecting our Festival Theme from 1 John 4:19, We love because He first loved us. The Theme was also threaded throughout the daily Services of worship, prayers, readings and sermons. We were pleased to have two international guest speakers—Ross Jutsum from the USA and Bob Millman from Canada.

Blessed with unseasonably warm and dry weather, people enjoyed gathering for the scheduled activities, taking excursions around the beautiful Devonshire sights; and getting together for meals. A full activity schedule included Ross Jutsum’s evening of Praise and Worship, our annual Quiz Evening, a Ladies Tea, and The Big Sing with a countdown to the number one hymn for this years’ Festival. There were opportunities to dance, attend Bible Studies, take Communion and enjoy a presentation about Ezekiel’s Temple with 3D viewers to get an inside peek at what it could look like. An excellent entertainment and talent evening, Children’s Party, coach trip to Buckland Abbey and an outing to Paignton Zoo were also on offer. A new activity this year was an outing to the Ephesus Restaurant with more than 70 people going along. The Birmingham Gospel Singers once again did their outreach in the community, singing at two local old peoples’ homes and a collection of food items was given to Haven, a charity set up by Christians Together to help the needy and homeless. The Oceans Hall at Beverley Bay is a lovely hall with a coffee lounge and bar, and wonderful views over Torbay and Goodrington Beach. This was our first time meeting in this hall, which worked out well for our needs, apart from a few teething problems such as not enough room on the stage for all of the choir, but we adapted and managed quite well. People went home renewed, inspired and encouraged to let the light of the love of God shine from their lives throughout the year

The Paignton/Torquay area is often called the ‘English Riviera’ and is a picturesque part of the UK with glorious scenery, lovely beaches and tourist sites such as Dartmouth, Dartmoor National Park, Greenway House, and Buckland Abbey, the home of Sir Francis Drake. The Festival is held each year at Beverley Holidays—a caravan park complex with a variety of caravans varying in size, price and style, from the compact budget caravan to the new modern ones with balconies, walk-in showers and fitted kitchens including full-sized fridge-freezers, microwave and espresso coffee machines. Most members stay on site with an easy walk to the hall, shop, restaurant, swimming pool, and laundrette; while a few indulge in nearby B & B, hotels or holiday cottages/lodges.

Bookings are being taken for 2018 and you are welcome to book caravans in the Beverley Bay caravan area or in Beverley Park and walk over to the hall each day, which takes about five minutes.
