Hymn 4 – Joy to the World
Hymn 5 – O Little Town of Bethlehem

The Message was given by Gordon Brown, who began by talking about the two very encouraging and positive messages written by Ruth Edwards and Diane Hall that we read last week in our daily church Day by Day. They both talked about their rescue from daily struggles. We all need encouragement. God understands us all individually and we need to learn to trust him. When John the Baptist was killed, Jesus then began his ministry. Matthew 14:12. Jesus went by boat to a deserted place to be by himself but the crowds found him. He healed their sick and provided food for them because he was moved by compassion. Verses 13-21. Jesus sent the disciples away in the boat and then sent the multitudes away. Verse 22. He went up the mountain to be alone and to pray. Verse 23. A strong wind began blowing the boat and
the disciples were very afraid and saw Jesus walking towards them on the sea. They cried out in fear. Jesus called out to them not to be afraid, he himself was coming to help them. Verses 24-27. The scriptures are
written for our learning, comfort and hope. Romans 15:4. We are comforted by God and in turn we can comfort others. 1 Corinthians 1:3-4. God wants to encourage us and does, but how? Read Psalm 31:24. Joshua 1:9. There is no fear in love. 1 John 4:18. Isaiah 41:10. We must remember those words of Jesus to be of good courage and not afraid. He will always be with us to help and comfort us.

The Final Hymn was Hark the Herald Angels Sing, after which the Closing Prayer was given by Phillip Halford.
