There was a Resurrection/Easter Service on 1 April 2018

The Service was held at Abbey School, St. Albans at 11am.

The Opening Prayer was given by Sue Ann Henderson

George Henderson began the Service by reading John 20:1-18 about Mary Magdalene seeing the risen Lord Jesus. He then led the following Hymns:
Hymn 1. Thine Be The Glory
Hymn 2. Jesus Christ Is Risen Today
Hymn 3. In The Tomb So Cold
Hymn 4. Were You There?
We heard a recording of Michael Crawford singing Mary Did You Know? while an offering was taken up.

Hymn 5. The Strife Is O’er

The Message was given by David Silcox
Do we ever think about just how Mary did feel during these days? It was a day of disappointment for some—it was all over. We read in Luke 24:13-34 that Jesus walked along the road to Emmaus with two people. They had been around Jesus for some time and could have been on their way home. Jesus seemed to be a stranger to them. They had hoped that he would do something great and redeem Israel. Verses 18-21. This was now the third day and they did not see Jesus at the tomb. Verses 22-24. Jesus asked them if they had thought through the scriptures foretelling that Messiah would suffer? Verse 26. Have we thought through all that the resurrection means? Read Acts 2:22-24. Jesus is who he said he was, he did what he said he would. What you read is the truth. Death was conquered by Christ. In 1 Corinthians 15:35-58 we learn more of God’s plan and the coming kingdom. We have a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Heaven came to us. Salvation is assured. 1 Peter 1:3-9.

The final Hymn was See What A Morning after which the Closing Prayer was led by Irene Wilson. During the prayer Irene prayed for Roy Young who had a fall this week, and for Blossom. She also thanked God for the Offering and asked him to bless its use.

We then all enjoyed a lunch together.
