Hymn 2. In Him I Have Believed
Hymn 3. Thine Be The Glory

The Message was given by Barry Robinson who began by announcing the death of long-time member Eric Jay a couple of weeks ago.
The Gospel accounts are first-hand witnesses of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. One of the things that separates them from fiction is the detail contained in these accounts, such as the telling of Mary at the empty tomb. John 20 contains this account and we will look at some things we can learn from Mary. Mary saw, she heard and she held on to him.
She saw him. In verse 14 it shows at first she missed who it was. Having spent time with Jesus, witnessing his miracles and hearing him tell how he would be killed and rise again, her first response was not ‘He has risen as he said, hallelujah!’ but ‘Where have they taken his body.’ Faith and understanding are impossible without the Holy Spirit. Faith is given, nor worked up. Faith is not our gift to God but God’s gift to us.
She heard him. Verse 16 Jesus called Mary and she recognized him. We may think we are seeking him but Jesus calls and we respond—he is seeking us.
She held on to him. Verse 16 says Jesus told her not to cling on to him. There is going to be a new way for you to hold on to me in faith through the Spirit. Let’s see, hear and hold on to Jesus receiving his gift of faith leading to the joy of salvation.

The final Hymn was See What A Morning after which the Closing Prayer was led by Irene Wilson

Young People’s Church was held during the Sermon time and led by Richard Fowler.

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.
