Hymn 3 – God of Grace and God of Glory

The Message was given by – Barry Robinson
There is a television programme called “Who do you think you are”. This question was asked of Jesus. John 8:53. Are you greater than Abraham? This is important for all people to ask. Jesus answered, “before Abraham was, “I Am”. Some Jews that Jesus was talking to believed him and followed him. Jesus told them that the truth would set them free. Read verses 31-33. Others already felt free and said they had never been slaves. Are we spiritual slaves? Verse 34 says that we are all slaves of sin. A servant or slave had to answer to the head of the house, but a son is loved. Verse 35. We will remain slaves if we don’t come to the
Father. A teacher or prophet would want us to change our status. Jesus said that we would never see death. Verse 51. The Jews thought Jesus had a demon and asked him who he claimed to be? Verses 48-49 and 53. Read Psalm 96.
Everything will praise the Lord. He comes to judge the Earth. They did not believe that Jesus had seen Abraham and took up stones to throw at him. Verses 57-59. Jesus called himself “I AM” not I was. Self-existant with no beginning and no end. Jesus sacrificed his life and suffered for us so that we can be forgiven of our sins. Some people were transformed by Jesus and others nailed him to a cross. Jesus must be central in our lives. He gives us spiritual freedom and eternal inheritance. We must trust and follow the great “I AM”.

The Final Hymn was And Can it Be after which the Closing Prayer was given by Phillip Halford.
