Hymn 3.  Meekness And Majesty

Intercessory Prayer was offered by Sue Ann Henderson and included:
*Thank you Jesus for all you did for us, our Saviour and Shepherd
*We have no need to fear anything, even death.  We live a redeemed life and know that you forgive us when we sometimes fail. Help us to live each day for others.
*We are thankful that Terry is improving and will be home soon
*Malcolm and Debbie need your help for their future treatment. Please guide the decisions the doctors need to make.  Thank you for our NHS. Please help and support these families
*Please give help and comfort to Hilda and her family.
*We ask your swift healing for Reg, Philip and Rosemary.  Please also help Rosemary’s daughter, Alison, who is suffering from a stomach complaint.
*Please heal the foot of Cathy and also support her husband, Stuart.
*We pray for the Marsden family in their grief.  Please give them the faith to know that death is just temporary and let this lift and comfort them.
*We are so sorry to hear of the death this week of a fourteen year old boy. Please help his family. The answer to these problems is to know you. We need young people to learn right values in life and not to live just for self.
*Please bless the Conference in Coulsdon next week and guide all our leaders
*We now leave all these people in your loving care. You know what is best for them.

Hymn 4.  Lord For The Years

The Message was given by Mike Barlow on the subject of Gentleness.
Gentleness is one of the fruits of the Spirit in Galations 5:22-23.  If all people in the world had this, what a difference it would make.  As children we learnt of ‘Gentle Jesus, meek and milk.’ This is how we should be. Let us consider the mind of God. Gentleness is a component of love. We should all have concern for the welfare of toehrs with a gentle approach and tenderness towards them. We should be like a Pastor or Shepherd of sheep.
We are easily led astray though. The opposite of gentleness is to be arrogant, aggressive, rude, condemning, sarcastic, hostile or to gossip. Do we always look down on others?  It does take a long time to develop the fruits of the Spirit. We should follow the Master. Romans 8:1-6. We should seek God and set our minds on things above and not on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2. We should put on a new life in Christ. Verse 10. We are just weak and small in this universe, but we can be compassionate and forgiving. We should always have an attitude of love. James 3:13. Human nature is selfish and not gentle to others. We should be a peaceable person. Verses 17-18. To be gentle is a good thing and by God’s grace we can become more like him to all people. Titus 3:1-7.

The final Hymn was All Heav’n Declares after which the Closing Prayer was led by Irene Wilson.

Fellowship continued over refreshments in the church hall.
