Announcements were given by Kevin Harris and included:
*Phillip is improving but now suffers some back pain. He does appreciate all of your love and concern.
*Sueann is not here today as she has a cough and cold.
*Colin Heath, a Reader in the St.Peter’s church had a brain operation this week. It has now stopped the shakes in his right hand and he hopes soon to have the same operation for the left hand.
*Pete Mill would like us to pray for the re-designed ‘Because’ magazine.
It is meant for the public and if you could pass on your copy to someone else that would help. If you would like to write articles, then please contact Pete.

Hymn 3 – Father God I Wonder

Intercessory Prayer was led by Geoff Sole, who began by reading from Psalm 66:
*We come here and give you our heartfelt thanks for our many blessings. We come to church to praise and worship you. Christ gave his life for us   and we are led by your Holy Spirit. We want to follow Jesus and we have the Bible as our guide.
*We ask your help for the Missionaries and Christians caught up in a world of poverty in many parts of the world. In the western world the rich are caught up in a world of wealth and have turned their backs on God. Many are in spiritual darkness.
*Phillip, Sueann and Jill Newman would love to be here today. Please heal them and give Jill comfort and peace of mind.
*Please help Joan Esom and Tony Shevlane to get well.
*Please give Colin full use of his hands. We also ask your strength for David Plumley, Debbie Thomas and Andrew Silcox with their health problems.
*We pray for our table outside that people will stop and ask about you.
*We pray for our National Ministry Team and for the success of the new style ‘Because’. We need your help to reach young people and please inspire new writers to come forward.
*Please give David and Nancy a safe and happy holiday.
*We pray an end to the suffering of the Syrian refugees.
*Please help the world to win the battle to stop the Coronavirus spreading further.
*Thanks again for hearing us through your love and grace.

Hymn 4 – Such Love
Hymn 5 – Meekness and Majesty

The Message was given by Irene Wilson on The Transfiguration. Prior to the Transfiguration, the disciples were not actually sure who Jesus was when he asked them. Peter did say that he was the Christ, but Jesus told them to tell no one. Mark 8:27-30. Jesus took Peter, James and John up a mountain to pray. Luke 9:28. Why did he choose those three? We don’t know but James was the first martyr to die and John was the last to die. They would have been alone at the top of the mountain and in silence. The disciples must have wondered what was to happen next. Jesus was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining white and brighter than snow. Then Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with Jesus. Peter asked if he could make three shelters for them. How did he know who they were? They may have heard a voice or Jesus could have explained. Could it have been a spiritual  illumination or did they overhear what was said. In their glorified state they did not need shelters. They began to get afraid and then a cloud overshadowed them and a voice came out of the cloud saying,”This is My beloved Son,Hear Him”. When the men looked around, there was no one there but Jesus.Moses and Elijah had completed their service and Jesus transcended them. God had said to listen now to the Son he loved. That command still applies now. Deuteronomy 18:15. Jesus was elevated above Moses and Elijah and fulfilled the Law and the Prophets. We must listen to Him now. Those three disciples were eye witnessess and allowed to see the glory of Jesus. They now understood who he really was. It helps us to understand our future glorification. 1 John 3:2. After Jesus had died and risen from the dead, they were allowed to tell everyone about Jesus and so should we. Mark 9:9-10. People should glimpse Jesus in us. God will give us a new heart and we will walk by faith in his ways and by his grace. Ezekiel 36:26-27.

The Final Hymn was I Will Worship, after which the Closing Prayer was given by Joy Barlow
