Spring Festival Service on Wednesday 15 April 2020

You are welcome to join our virtual worship service for the Watford Congregation:

Father in Heaven, we have had a week considering the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. No matter how hard we try we cannot rid ourselves of all sin and so, Lord, we look to you in gratitude and praise to cleanse and renew us so that we can let our light shine during this dark time when the world joins hands to battle the coronavirus. Sin is like a virus and we need the inoculation of Jesus to protect us and keep us well.

And when I think that God, His son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sins’ – what wonderful concepts are contained in the words to our first Hymn this morning – HOW GREAT THOU ART! In the WCG Hymnal page 100

One of the ways we express our appreciation for the grace, forgiveness and redemption of God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Saviour, is by giving an offering. It is our normal practice to pass the offering basket on Special Festival Days like this and so we encourage you to take this opportunity to give back some of what God has blessed you with in order to bless others through the work of the Church. This can be by cheque sent to the office, by bank transfer, by donating online at https://gracecom.churchsuite.co.uk/do… ; or you can also donate by text by texting “P7LE6 give” to 60777 (note that text giving only works from UK mobiles). Our offering music today is a a beautiful rendition of the song IN CHRIST ALONE by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend, sung by the group, Noblesse
: To watch, click on this link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyLYb6kUyII

The words to the beautiful song are:
In Christ alone do I glory For only by His grace I am redeemed
For only His tender mercy Could reach beyond my weakness to my need
And now I seek no greater honor in just to know Him more
And to count my gains but losses to the glory of my Lord

[chorus] In Christ alone ~I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory ~ Let it be said of me
My source of strength ~ My source of hope
Is Christ alone

In Christ alone will I glory Though I could pride myself in battles won
For I’ve been blessed beyond measure And by His strength alone I’ll overcome
Oh, I could stop and count successes like diamonds in my hands
But those trophies could not equal to the grace by which I stand

Christ’s sacrifice took away our sin and we are now a new creation as we sing in our next Hymn: I AM A NEW CREATION

We consider what legacy we leave by our lives in service to our saviour, by the offerings we make and by our example and worship. In the Speaking of Life today Michelle Fleming talks about how as a new creation we follow in the footsteps of Jesus and leave and inherit a glorious legacy:

As Michelle spoke of our ‘redemption story’, we trust in God our Redeemer to guide and lead us as we sing in our 3rd  HYMN– GUIDE ME O THOU GREAT REDEEMER – ancient words to the tune of WCG hymn 94

One of the ways that God guides us is through his Word and through those who “are your leaders in the Lord’s work…and give you spiritual guidance” (1 Thessalonians 5:1 NLT) so Here is the SERMON LINK to one of the archived Sermons on the UK Church website www.gracecom.church – This Sermon is from James Henderson, entitled ‘Only God Is Good’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=14&v=xqweXZ9Ddfg&feature=emb_logo

Or if you prefer to wait until 7:30 this evening you can view the live-streaming Bible Study provided by our UK Church Office at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph4mVAdWevw&feature=youtu.be

Whichever link you chose, we remember that some of Jesus’ last words to His Disciples were that, as new creations in Jesus Christ, we should go into all the world with the Gospel. So wherever we are in the world, whatever age, race, gender or social position, we can by our lives be a witness of God’s power, love and forgiveness which cleanses us from sins and gives us eternal life: Let’s sing our final HYMN for this service:  GO YE THEREFORE INTO ALL THE WORLD

After this time of meditation, prayer and worship together virtually, Lord, we renew our desire to go into the world in whatever way we can with the Good News, in Your Name,

I invite you to stay a few moments longer in meditation with this link:
