Welcome to our virtual Service:

PRAYER
Thank you, God, for the rain that we have had this week to soften the dry, cracked ground, to water the new seeds that are growing in the spring. Thank you for the beauty around us, for the flowers that brighten our days despite the rain and lockdown. For the sky with thunder and lightning that remind us of your power over all. We pause at the end of another week to thank you and give you praise in our worship today.
AMEN

I hope that you have had opportunity during the lockdown to go into the garden or walk in the woods. We have watched the leaves from tiny buds of yellow green to the lush canopy of green in the woods after the rain. We have revelled in walking among the bluebells and hearing the birds singing sweetly in the trees. In fact, here is a short video clip—listen to the birds!

Our first song celebrates spring and creation. Let’s sing together, Morning Has Broken:
HYMN NO. 1 – MORNING HAS BROKEN – WCG Hymnal 74

We praise God with elation for the morning, for the singing, for creation as we acknowledge his mighty power in our next hymn:
HYMN NO. 2 – I SING THE MIGHTY POWER OF GOD – WCG Hymnal 268

We sang that He formed the creatures with His word and pronounced them good. We can learn a lot from the creatures around us.

Did you hear about the two frogs who fell into the pit? The rest of the frogs looked down into the pit and told them to give up, that they would never make it out. One frog gave up but the other frog kept jumping as hard as he could, despite all the frogs above him telling him to give up, he’d never get out.

Finally with one final great effort, the frog jumped high enough to make it out of the pit! The other frogs gathered around in amazement and said, “Why did you keep jumping when we were telling you to give up,” they asked? The triumphant frog replied, “I’m a bit deaf and I thought you were encouraging me, so I jumped harder.”

There are several lessons here:
*Do you just give up when you think you are up against something impossible? Are you resigned to the inevitable?
*Do you listen to people who do not think you can succeed?
*Or do you keep trying against all odds?
*Are you one of the frogs who sit around the pit and tell the trapped frog to give up?
*Or are you an encourager urging them to try harder—helping and willing them to succeed?

Doubt can be damaging or it can be healthy, let’s hear Heber Ticas Speaking of Life talking of Doubt.

Jesus, our loving Shepherd can lead us through the shadows of doubt in the valley of death to the quiet waters of faith. Our next hymn is The Lord’s My Shepherd:
HYMN NO. 3 – THE LORD’S MY SHEPHERD – WCG Hymnal 40

His Rod and Staff guide us and we eat at his Table. So for spiritual food we have a live-streaming Sermon:

We have so many things to praise God for. We praise Him for the joy of human love around us, for brother, sister, parent, child, friend and Heavenly Father. We praise him for life, for the Church, for all of creation and for the beauty of the earth.
HYMN NO. 4 – FOR THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH – WCG Hymnal 83

PRAYER
Lord of all, to Thee we raise our hymn and prayer of grateful praise. Even during this endemic we can choose to see beauty everywhere. We pray for your healing, for your blessings, for love and encouragement as we love and encourage others. We thank you and praise you, in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Two men looking through the bars,
One saw mud and one saw stars.
Which are you?
