Near Whipsnade Zoo is a National Trust property with a TREE CATHEDRAL. The different variety of trees and shrubs have been planted in the shape of a cathedral with towers, chapels and a Nave. If you look up at the light coming through the leaves, it is like a stained-glass window. When you walk through a wood, your eyes are drawn up and up to heaven; your spirit soars as the fresh cool air seems to bring the peace of God closer and the birdsong calms the mind. There’s a lovely picture that illustrates the amazing way creation works together through God’s perfect plan and design:

And no matter how badly we treat the environment, God has designed it to heal itself and regenerate like this new little tree growing out of a burnt log! Like how we use the coal and oil formed by the destruction of the earth in the past, God can turn all things for good to his beloved children.

This time of year when the fields are ripening, garden are full of a riot of colourful flowers, vegetables beginning to produce, and squirrels are scampering to bury their nuts for winter; we can be so thankful for the beauty around us, for eyes to feast on the colours, ears to hear the bees about their business making honey for our tastebuds to enjoy, and we can feel the gentle breeze cooling our faces turned up to worship our wonderful Creator.

Mind you, during this pandemic you may have come to a new realisation of how much effort is involved in the production of produce and the care of the gardens we are enjoying—someone discovered that ‘growing your own tomatoes is the best way to devote 3 months of your life to saving £2.15!

I Love the poetry of hymns with words so lovely and inspiring—He paints the wayside flower, lights the evening star and by him the birds are fed. He even cares for creatures that we are horrified by like the rats in the next slide!

Yes, the Lord God made them all! As we sing in our next hymn:
